How can I help?

Make a donation

  • We are always in need of good quality furniture, white goods and essential household items which can then be redistributed within the community. A free uplift service is available or donations can be dropped off at our warehouse in Ormlie during our opening hours.

  • We also welcome goods which can be sold in our charity shop to raise funds to support our work. Again a free uplift service is available or you can take items directly to the HomeAid shop at 32A Princes Street, Thurso. Please only bring items to the shop during opening hours as there is nowhere to leave donations when we are closed.

  • You could make a cash donation which would help make an enormous difference to vulnerable people in our communities. You can help us recruit and train more volunteers, buy spare parts to repair broken cookers, washing machines etc. and in turn help more low-income families and individuals. You can donate online, send us a cheque or put some money in our collecting tins wherever you see them. Cheques should be made payable to HomeAid Caithness and sent to our Ormlie office. You can also make a donation online.

  • Encourage anyone you know with surplus household items to donate them to HomeAid. You never know what your friends, family, neighbours or colleagues may be considering sending to the dump because they haven`t yet heard of HomeAid. Please pass on our details. You are welcome to collect some of our business cards next time you are passing the shop or office.

Last year 75% of donated items were redistributed to those in need. 11% were sold to raise much-needed funds and 14% went into the waste stream.

While any essential houshold items which are donated go out to our clients who are on referral, other items such as bric-a-brac, books and furniture items for which we have no waiting list, are sold to help raise funds to run the charity. Buying an item, be it for 50p or £50, from our charity shop in Thurso will help us with our fundraising
