How can I help?
HomeAid Caithness & Sutherland offers an environmentally friendly and socially responsible means of disposing of those household items and furniture which are no longer needed or wanted. HomeAid Caithness & Sutherland diverts waste from landfill sites and redistributes the items to the benefit of disadvantaged individuals and families in the area. This helps build a more equal and inclusive community while also benefiting the environment.

Hundreds of people donate good quality furniture and other items to HomeAid Caithness & Sutherland every year. Why don`t you join them? An uplift service is available or donations can be dropped off at the warehouse or shops during opening hours.
Make a donation
- We are always in need of good quality furniture, white goods and essential household items which can then be redistributed within the community. An uplift service is available FREE OF CHARGE or donations can be dropped off at our warehouse in Ormlie during our opening hours.
- We also welcome goods which can be sold in our charity shops to raise funds to support our work. Again an uplift service is available or you can take items directly to the HomeAid Caithness & Sutherland shops at 32A Princes Street, Thurso and 19 Dempster Street, Wick. Please only bring items to the shops during opening hours as there is nowhere to leave donations when we are closed.
- You could make a cash donation which would help make an enormous difference to vulnerable people in our communities. You can donate online, via chip & pin in one of our stores or put some money in our collecting tins wherever you see them.
- Encourage anyone you know with surplus household items to donate them to HomeAid Caithness & Sutherland. You never know what your friends, family, neighbours or colleagues may be considering sending to the dump because they haven't yet heard of HomeAid Caithness & Sutherland. Please pass on our details. You are welcome to collect some of our business cards next time you are passing the shop or office.

Essential household items and furniture which are donated go out to our clients who are on referral. Any surplus stock or other items such as bric-a-brac, books and furniture items for which we have no waiting list, are sold to help raise funds to run the charity. Buying an item, be it for 50p or £5.00 will help us to continue to provide the service to people on a low income.
